About the Author
MaryAnn Hogan, PhD(c), MSN, RN, CNE, has been a nurse educator for more than 30 years, and is currently a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. She has taught in diploma, associate degree, and baccalaureate nursing programs. A former item writer for the CAT NCLEX-RN® exam, Ms. Hogan has been teaching review courses throughout New England for the past 25 years. She also has contributed to a number of publications in the areas of adult health, pharmacology, and fundamentals of nursing. She is a member of the American Nurses Association, ANA Massachusetts, Sigma Theta Tau International, Eastern Nursing Research Society, National League for Nursing, and International Network for Doctoral Education in Nursing (INDEN).

I am foreign educated nurse and this book helped me to pass Nclex- Rn. It has everything you need for the exam
This book is very helpful for Med-Surg in Nursing school. It explains the important things in great detail, but doesn't feel dense. It's easy to follow and understand. Very good supplement to use in addition to the assigned text and/or reading.
Great NCLEX style questions. Buy the new copy with online access code to access 2000 additional NCLEX questions.
This book has been really helpful in preparing for the NCLEX, it contains around 60 chapters and is divided based on age, body system, medications, and random extras. It starts with fertility, prenatal, through birth and childhood. The best thing this book is for is pharmacology, if you feel like its your week area, about 1/3 of the entire book focuses solely on it. I really like the way it gives you hints at what's important and helps group meds. Each chapter ends with around 20 questions, they are comprehensive and well-worded and give good rationales. My only complaint with the rationales I wish they would cite where in the chapter this information is found, I will spend forever searching for that paragraph to reread and sometimes it seems the information wasn't focused on in that chapter. Overall this book is a great concise study tool and if read thoroughly (like 3-4 times) and used to its full advantage you should definitely pass the NCLEX.
Very helpful to solidify my studying! Hits the important points without all the extra words textbooks have. And the quizzes after each chapter help with test prep for school in general. Improved 12 points between tests by ending my studying with this book.
