Definitely written for young girls who find themselves in the midst of a crisis pregnancy, and are considering all the options (parent the child, place the child for adoption, or have an abortion). It is laid out well for young readers with short chapters and simple words. Though the words are simple, they do not lack power. The author has a clear agenda, which is to encourage the young pregnant woman/girl to grant the baby life. Either choosing to raise the child or place for adoption. She makes a compelling argument against abortion and just urges the reader to take time to think through such a major life decision. I think she does a very good job of calming and comforting a young woman with a surprise pregnancy. This is not a book for girls/women who have found themselves pregnant due to some tragic incident like rape. It is mainly for girls who have chosen to be sexually active, with mutual consent, and didn't mean to get pregnant. It is worth reading. Short, but powerful.
Twelve years ago, this book was invaluable to me as a pregnant 15 year old. Since then my copy has helped many young women. This new edition is even better, and I look forward to sharing it all over again. It is easy to read, and short enough to read in one sitting (though you will refer to it again and again). As a former pregnant teen, and now a counselor and educator to pregnant teens, I highly recommend this book.
