About the Author
Roger Priddy left school at 16 with just one qualification―in art. He went to Berkshire College of Art and Design and trained as an illustrator. His first job in children's books was working with the publisher Peter Usborne, at Usborne Publishing, and then he worked with Peter Kindersley at Dorling Kindersley, where he spent 16 years. Priddy became Creative Director of DK's Children's Division and was Managing Director of the children's mass market publisher Funfax when it was acquired by DK. In 2000, he created Priddy Books with John Sargent at St Martin's Press to create innovative and imaginative titles for children, from first books for babies through early reference titles for older children. Since then, over 30 million copies of Roger's 200 plus books have sold worldwide, with five of his books―My Big Animal, My Big Truck, Happy Baby Words, Happy Baby Colors and Puppy and Friends―each selling over one million copies. Bought this for my grandson's first St. Patrick's Day. He was a little young to appreciate it (5 months), but looked at the pages. I don't understand the complaints. I agree that there are not a lot of "touchy" pages, but it still is a cute little book which fills a St. Patrick's Day niche at a very reasonable price. I guess it depends how people want to use the book. I don't think you could just hand it to a baby/little child and expect he/she to be overwhelmed. I plan to read it to my grandson and at the same time use it to open up conversation/education on the St. Patrick's Day symbols depicted. The "touchy" pages are an added bonus. I will try to remember to update next year, when my grandson is a little older!
Just about the worst "touch and feel" book I've ever seen. That is including the free one the hospital gave us when my daughter was born. My daughter is 1 year old and though we read touch and feel books everyday, she has no idea this is one because the textures are so slight and uninteresting. It is only cute because many years from now she will understand what a leprechaun is, and why a green river has anything to do with her birthday...St Patrick's Day. Only buy this book if you want a board book about St. Patty's and don't care about "touch & feel", even then, there is likely better ones out there.
I purchased this book after owning several other of the Bright Baby Touch and Feel books. I was greatly disappointed with this particular book. There was slim to none to actually touch and feel. Glitter shamrocks - yes I guess they have some texture, but not really the touch and feel I was accustomed to with this brand. Bummed.
it would have been helpful if I could have seen a few pages on the inside first. The touch and feel really isn't that neat and my 11 month old, who LOVES books, was not all that interested in this one. A little more texture(than just a couple pages) for them to explore would be beneficial. I wouldn't call this a touch and feel book at all.
This is a sturdy board book, I will give it that, but there are only two things to touch and feel out of all the pages so It's an epic fail as a 'touch and feel' book. It was inexpensive and you definitely get what you pay for. There are many others available on Amazon that are much better than this one.
The book is cute and all, but there aren't very many textured spots in the book and there are some pages that don't have any textured spots at all. My child has to really search for the texture and eventually she gets bored and goes for her books that have very obvious textured parts to run her hands along.
This book met my expectations and will find a happy home in a classroom for kids with special needs. Perfect for early beginners and special needs classrooms. The "touch and feel" aspect is played up a bit, with less then half the pages featuring anything tactile.
I ordered this to read with my 3 year old grandchild for St. Patrick's Day.The pages consists of a picture and a word or two. We look at the colorful pictures and she has fun when there's something for her to feel on some of the pages.
